Born and raised in a small Canadian city, Kelan Lynch is a passionate advocate for the arts in rural communities. A long-time member and soloist with the Grande Prairie Boys’ Choir (GPBC), Kelan has performed at notable events such as Symphony and Singing in the City, aiming to bring classical music to wider, more diverse audiences.

After twelve years with the GPBC, Kelan pursued a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Alberta, studying both baritone and countertenor roles with Canadian tenor John Tessier. He also performed with the university’s Madrigal Singers, serving as both a board member and President. Kelan now studies at the acclaimed Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) in London, under the tutelage of renowned countertenor Andrew Watts, and tenor Adrian Thompson.

Kelan’s operatic experience includes roles with the University of Alberta Opera Theatre, such as the ‘Sun’ in the Canadian premiere of Jonathan Dove’s The Enchanted Pig, ‘Babylas’ in Offenbach’s Monsieur Choufleuri Restera Chez Lui, ‘Major General Stanley’ in The Pirates of Penzance, and ‘Pluton’ in Orphée aux Enfers. Additionally, he has performed with Edmonton Opera in productions of Tosca and Carmen, and appeared as a soloist in Opera al Fresco. Kelan frequently sings consort and concert music with the historical performance department at GSMD and with members of the Academy of Ancient Music.  He recently made his European debut with one of the International Vocal Competition’s concert series.

Outside of music, Kelan enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, flying sailplanes, and relaxing over coffee or a dram of whisky.
